PUBLIC EDUCATION ASSISTANT - CONTRACT

Job Title:

Public Education Assistant - Contract

Department:

Public Education

Reports To:

Public Education Administrator

Based At:

Head Office

Job Purpose :

To increase awareness and educate the public, particularly our young citizens on the impact of littering on the environment. Assist in developing and conducting, school workshops/lectures and outreach programmes and campaigns. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities  

§ Assists with schedules of public education awareness activities at schools across the country inclusive of Tobago;

§ Assists in the department's participation at conferences, expos, and fairs organized by local government, businesses, and schools;

§ Collates, assembles and manages resources needed for public education/awareness exhibitions and other initiatives;

§ Delivers educational presentations at schools, communities, and corporate events;

§ Assists with draft press releases and informational or promotional material if requested;

§ Co-ordinates and distributes publications, reports, educational fact sheets and brochures;

§ Assists in management of internal public education events and initiatives;

§ Acts as liaison for timely and effective use of media, advertising space and printing houses;

§ Liaises with IT department to monitor and update public education information on website and social media pages;

§ Must be able to efficiently use social media to assist with programmes and monitor feedback;

§ Requisitions data from Research & Information for inclusion in public education campaigns, events, fact sheets or articles;

§ Assists in the development of feedback mechanisms to evaluate the public education program, gauging its validity and effectiveness and pinpointing the changes that are needed;

§ Other related duties as may be assigned by Management. 

Qualifications:

Critical: 

§ Degree in Communication Arts/Marketing or related field

§ Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a similar position

§ Any other suitable combination of experience and qualification

Important:

 

§ Excellent communication skills, oral & written

§ Outgoing personality

§ Good presentation skills

§ Outstanding organizational skills

§ Time management skills

§ Must be able to work in a team

§ Must participate in all field work

§ Ability to work without supervision

§ Proficient in use of MS Office Suite inclusive of Power Point

§ Must be able to interact with the public effectively, especially with children
