SWMCOL is pleased to announce the commencement of a Pilot Curbside Recycling Project in the Maracas/St. Joseph Community in partnership with the Rotary Club of Maracas/St. Joseph (RCMSJ) and Tetra Pak.
The first in a series of pilot projects to be staged by SWMCOL, the Maracas/St. Joseph project aims to assess the feasibility of collecting recyclables at source, the overall cooperativeness of the participants, and the types and quantities of material collected during the run of the project.
We welcome the participation of the Maracas Presbyterian, Maracas SDA and Maracas RC Primary Schools as well as the residential communities of Maracas Gardens, Valley View, El Chorro Village, Poolside and Alta Gracia. Much appreciation also to the RCMSJ Rotarians who so willingly volunteer their assistance in making this project a success.
SWMCOL will be targeting used beverage containers of all types: glass, plastic, metal and tetra-pak cartons.
Recyclables will be collected weekly from the participating schools on Fridays and the communities on Saturdays.
